Did you know BTY teachers Izumi Sato (@yoga_with_izumi) and Kirti Saran (@kirtisaranyoga) trained in Classical Indian Dance? And now they are coming together on Sunday, May 5 to lead us in an afternoon of Storytelling Through Dance: Bharatanatyam, an Indian Classical Dance.

This afternoon is designed for those with a natural curiosity in ancient cultures and enjoy both the art of listening and narrating stories with emotion. Bharatnatyam is the most ancient dance form of India which uses hand-gestures, eye-movements, head movements, neck movements and body movements to narrate a story. Dive deep into this workshop and experience an emotion which you have never felt before.

Izumi & Kirti will take you deep into an understanding of the emotions experienced by the characters in the Ramayana — an ancient Indian epic composed in the 5th century BCE. They will impart an understanding of Bhakti and open a whole new dimension of life to you in order to navigate through life with ease and comfort.

No previous dance experience is necessary. Remain a spectator or partake in activities which work for you.

On Saturday, May 4 @marcelac_yoga will lead a carefully curated workshop designd to relieve and release stress.

Come practice a fusion of yoga that combines a revitalizing flow with centering breathing exercises, deeply restoring stretches, and nourishing subtle body movements. We will also learn about stress: what it is, how we get stressed, and the benefits of releasing stress through the lens of yoga.
