Bridget Puchalsky

Bridget found yoga through a long-ago bout with lower-back tension from skiing and biking. It led to a passion for teaching that influenced her career path as an acupuncturist and Ayurveda practitioner. In addition to being a yogini and healing facilitator, Bridget is a listener, herbalist, adventurer, nature lover, and environmental protector. She is a board-licensed acupuncturist, master herbalist, certified Ayurveda practitioner, L.Ac. MTCM, registered E-RYT and E-RYT 500 yoga instructor. Bridget is the director of Breathe Together Yoga’s Wellness Center and core faculty member in the JOY of Yoga teacher training.

On the weekends, Bridget can be found out in the surf in her hometown of Santa Cruz or camping in the high Sierras. She loves traveling (especially with Jennifer Prugh) to exciting places both near and far. A true Sagittarius at heart, she’s up for adventure and wants you (friends) to come along.

What do you do when you aren’t practicing?

When I’m not practicing or teaching, I am quite often treating patients with acupuncture, Ayurveda, and herbal medicine. In my free time, I’m often enjoying nature and doing something adventurous and active. My favorite activities put me in touch with nature but have a little spice: surfing, mountain biking, hiking, and skiing. I feel most at home in high altitude or a mist’s distance from the ocean.  My dog Ella takes me on daily hikes which keeps me active and helps to get outdoors everyday.

What does yoga mean to you?

Yoga is a way of being in the world. It is both a philosophy and a way of life. Yoga works on us, and we, in turn, work on yoga. For those who go to the mat, sit on the cushion, or otherwise seek to be better people in the world through compassion, empathy, and kindness, yoga is life.
