Lonnell was introduced to yoga while rehabbing from a minor car accident in 2012. Realizing the healing potential of a consistent yoga practice, he devoted his time to the craft. A 2013 mission trip to Rwanda to help the children at Kimisagara Orphanage had a profound effect on his life and his yoga practice. He supports Imana Kids: An Orphan-Care Ministry, http://imanakids.org/ and Discovery 2 Charter School, http://www.discoveryk8.org/. He is also a 200-hr certified yoga instructor through Jennifer Prugh’s Joy of Yoga Teacher Training at Breathe Together.
Physical fitness has always been a central component of Lonnell’s life. He has enjoyed various forms of physical activity, including weight training, basketball, football, volleyball and tennis. He received his bachelor’s degree in business from Rockhurst University and has held positions as a marketing coordinator, educator, and insurance agent. A stay-at-home dad to his son and daughter for the last five years, Lonnell volunteers at their school and teaches yoga to their classmates.
