8 Week Beginning Sanskrit Course

Ramana Erickson

June 4th – July 23rd
Monday Nights | 7:30pm – 9:00pm

Learn how to correctly pronounce and read the Sanskrit script (Devanagari) according to Vedic rules. Be completely confident in your pronunciation when announcing Yoga asanas or chanting sutras and mantras in your class or for adding power and precision to your Kirtan singing. As an added benefit, those who complete the course will know the proper pronunciation of Sanskrit when using English transliteration, and will know exactly what all those dots and slashes above and below the letters mean when Sanskrit is transliterated, and will feel confident about pronouncing any Sanskrit word properly whether written in Sanskrit or English.

However, this course is not just about the mechanics of the language. We will go deep into the origins and esoteric side of Sanskrit and find out why Sanskrit is so powerful, why it is the language of Yoga and Kirtan, why it is used for mantras, how the language connects all of us to the universe at large – the macrocosm contained within the microcosm.

This course will give your yoga practice a transformative boost!

This series is available in an online interactive format so you can attend from wherever you are. Each class will be live-steamed and recorded so you can access it at a time convenient for you.

About Ramana Erickson

When Ramana was fourteen years old, he moved with his family to Swami Muktananda’s ashram in Ganeshpuri, India. It was at this time that Ramana deepened his knowledge of Sanskrit, studying intensively for two years under the Sanskrit and Vedanta scholar Swami Tejomayananda Saraswati, one of Muktananda’s direct disciples and the main teacher of Vedanta and Kashmir Shaivism in the ashram. It was from the knowledge and teaching style imparted by Swami Tejomayananda that Ramana devised the core Sanskrit course that he has been teaching now for over 30 years. Ramana has successfully taught beginning Sanskrit to hundreds of students in the United States, India, and Japan.
