Yoga and Cancer: 30 Hour Intensive

Learn how to offer evidence-based yoga tools to people dealing with cancer in any setting: general population yoga class, private yoga therapy, yoga class specific to people with cancer, or in the hospital rooms. Some teaching practice with peers and students with cancer will be included. Through a combination of lecture and practice, you’ll learn the following topics:

  • Identifying your own cancer fears, triggers and blind spots
  • Yoga’s benefits and its limitations when working with cancer
  • Cancer terminology
  • Common treatments, reconstruction options and their side effects
  • Contraindications for certain cancers, treatments and side effects
  • Using the 8 limbs of yoga to design effective practices
  • Psychological aspects of specific cancers
  • How to create an inviting, collaborate and safe space
  • Difference between evidence-based vs. evidence-informed practices and why they matter
  • Compassion fatigue
