Marcela Christjansen

Marcela is a bilingual (English and Spanish) mother, yogi, and big believer in living a clean and simple life. Originally from Mexico, she has lived in various countries since her 20s. She is a certified yoga instructor, registered with Yoga Alliance, and holds a MS in business. She teaches from a place of authenticity and welcomes students from all ages and backgrounds to focus on vinyasa, flow, and gentle classes.

At the age of 24, after leaving everything behind to move to the other side of the world, she began feeling disoriented, lonely, and without clear direction. As a way to meet friends, and to redirect the stress, she joined a gym and tried yoga for the first time. Little did she know she would be meeting one of her most influential teachers ever, Birthe (RIP). At that very moment, her life would change for the better. She remembers feeling at home – within her own skin – it felt intuitively right. It was not long after that first class that she noticed how she’d gotten better at handling the challenges of her new life, how she was feeling better physically and emotionally. She was hooked!

She is a lifelong yoga student and continues her studies under Jennifer Prugh, as she wraps up her 500-hour certification in the JOY of Yoga program. Other influential teachers include Ann-Charlotte Monrad, Misako Matsuoka, Tias Little, Carrie Owerko, and others.

Her classes continue to evolve as she grows and learns. Marcela enjoys teaching based on her belief that yoga is for all, that we can all benefit from a practice that creates a connection between our noisy – and, at times, stressful – lives and the inner wisdom of the mind, body, and breath.
