Tibetan Ritual Dance

Tibetan Ritual Dance worshop led by Losang Samten

Join us as the Venerable Losang Samten, a former dance master at the Dalai Lama’s monastery, the Namgyal Monastery in India, shares a bit of history and teaches us about one of the most important ritual dances, Tse Gutor. A set of dances, traditionally, Tse Gutor were performed by monks in costume as the Tibetan Lunar New Year drew to a close. As ritual dancing is  not intended as a form of entertainment, the intention for the practice is to eliminate obstacles and to bring about peace.

During our time with Losang, we will learn steps and dance. Every movement in the dance carries a meaning. This  type of dance falls within the realm of Buddhist tantric yoga, a set of meditative practices that are spiritual in nature and offer individual healing benefits.

Come learn about and participate in this fascinating practice.

Proceeds from this event benefit the Tibetan Children’s Education Foundation.
