In 2006 I created the Joy of Yoga School of Integrative Learning to offer an embodied understanding of traditional Indian Hatha Yoga practices and energetic arts from Tibet and Nepal, combined with peer-reviewed scientific approaches to health and well-being. Since the creation of the Joy of Yoga 200-Hour Teacher Certification, the Joy of Yoga 300-Hour Teacher Certification in 2011, and JOY MAP (meditation and awareness program) in 2019, these programs have been offered locally, nationally, and internationally. Together, our faculty have hundreds of years of experience in living and teaching yoga in all kinds of professional settings. Our reviews on the Yoga Alliance website are some of the highest in the country.

The JOY 1,000-hour is for those who want to train in “engaged practice,” a non-secular and evidence-based application of yoga and mind-body practices, philosophy, and ethical guidelines that can positively affect every aspect of our lives.
Teaching aerial yoga requires experience and specialized skills. The aerial hammock can be fun and relaxing, and it can also offer a challenge. This certification program allows instructors to fully explore and expand their practice while gaining the experience and skills to create and teach classes where students feel supported, appropriately challenged, and look forward to practicing again.
For instructors interested in working with those who have suffered emotional or physical trauma, our Trauma-Informed Certification gives you firm grounding to support this population. The training addresses this group’s unique dynamics and challenges, offering various teaching modalities that focus on relaxing the nervous system. Additionally, the energetic practice of neurogenic tremoring is a component of this certification and a central focus of its mentorship.
