I’m so excited to have created and be able to offer you this short series of yoga for menopause.
Menopause with all its phases (Perimenopause, Menopause and Post Menopause) is part of a woman’s life for at least half of her life, if not for a little bit more. But we rarely get to talk about it, let alone to focus on how we can support one another, what it really means, and how, in this case, we can learn ways in which we can find balance and calm.
Therefore, it is my hope and intention for us to get together through this series and learn in a more detailed and hands on manner what the stages of menopause are, what it means for us in our lives, and more importantly, learn ways in which we can feel more ourselves, less confused, well, and thriving.
Because of the big scope of conversation, I have designed this as a series. Each session covers something different:
Part I (Saturday, September 20) – Kick off and introductory yoga for menopause practice – A community experience and conversation about our symptoms, worries, and questions. We’ll experience the basics of a yoga for menopause practice.
Part II (Saturday, October 25) – Breathing and moving – we continue the conversation and sharing in community. We add on to the yoga for menopause practice by learning how to support ourselves with the effects for calm, balance, cooling down, and focus.
Part III (Saturday, November 15) – Strength and calm – we continue the conversation and sharing in community. This time, we add on the element of strength. We’ll learn why strength is necessary through the stages of menopause, and how it can be incorporated to our yoga practice in accessible ways. We’ll also practice an asana series that provides calm, balance, stability and strength.
Please bring a yoga mat and a notebook. Optional: eye mask, your own water bottle.
Marcela has been a yoga teacher for over 12 years and in her own words ‘she’s ‘passionate about conscious movement and being healthy. She’s dedicated to guiding people on their path towards an integral life of well-being by offering the wide teachings of yoga including movement, breath, mindfulness, and how to be more present and aware to thrive and excel in our lives.
Marcela teaches private yoga sessions, group classes, facilitates workshops and corporate events. Furthermore, she offers coaching sessions focused on creating the life you really wish for, supported by the practice of yoga.
Marcela will be teaching as part of Breathe Together Yoga’s Joy of Yoga school team with the immersion of Adaptive Yoga. These teachings are based on how the practice of yoga can support a diverse group of people by adapting yoga to their specific needs. More specifically, she focuses on women in Menopause (through all the phases), new beginners, coming back from injuries, and aging adults.
She’s an avid student of all things Menopause, a conversation that is rarely mentioned, but that, as of recently, is becoming mainstream. Being so incredibly important in a woman’s life, she wants women to learn in community, to thrive.
