Adapting Yoga for Pregnancy

As a birth doula and prenatal yoga instructor, I’m excited to offer this workshop for yoga teachers, fitness instructors, and pregnant students who want to confidently adapt their practice for pregnancy. Whether you’re guiding others or navigating your own pregnancy journey, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and tools to make your practice safer, more comfortable, and empowering at every stage.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Modifying yoga poses: Learn simple, safe modifications for common yoga poses that support your changing body or your students’ bodies throughout pregnancy.
  • Managing common aches and pains: Discover how pregnancy affects the body, and how to adapt poses for discomforts like low back pain, round ligament pain, and pelvic instability.
  • Balancing poses: Explore poses that help create strength, stability, and balance in a pregnant body, and are beneficial in preparing for labor.
  • Safety & comfort considerations: Gain practical tools for making your practice or teaching as safe and comfortable as possible, no matter what stage of pregnancy you’re in.
  • Seamlessly integrating modifications: Learn how to incorporate modifications into your classes or personal practice with ease.
  • Breathing & mental techniques: Experience powerful breath and mental tools from yoga that will help you and your students feel grounded, calm, and prepared for birth.

This workshop is open to yoga teachers, fitness instructors, and pregnant students alike. You’ll leave feeling empowered with the knowledge and confidence to modify your practice for pregnancy, ensuring both safety and comfort every step of the way.

 

About Marina:

Marina is a certified birth doula and a prenatal yoga & exercise specialist. She completed her training in 2022 with Doula School/Awakened Spirit Yoga and is currently studying to become certified with Body Ready Method. She loves running the Prenatal Yoga program here at BTY and supporting one-on-one clients through their prenatal and birthing journeys. She is passionate about helping women use the tools of yoga to prepare for birth with more awareness and intentionality. She believes in using this important time as an opportunity to connect with your body’s natural wisdom and power — and having fun in the process!
