This immersion is a perfect opportunity for yoga teachers to develop proficiency in teaching adaptive and accessible yoga to senior and basic level students of all ages, physical abilities and types. Throughout this weekend, participants can grow their teaching abilities to improve the way in which their students experience the benefits of yoga in ways that are specifically focused on them.
Students will learn about the aging adult body’s anatomy, changes and needs. They will gain understanding about the importance of approaching students, senior and basic level alike, with a language of inclusivity, adaptability and accessibility. They will learn to create adaptive sequences, with modified creative postures, offer assists, and how to make use of props. This will allow teachers to create a space of trust and freedom for their students to experience the benefits of yoga where they get to explore, grow and focus on the possibilities within their own bodies.
This course will expand the students’ understanding of the possibilities and potential for a population that is aging, or basic level and highly motivated.
This course is a part of the JOY of Yoga 300-Hour Teacher Training Core Curriculum, and also open to the public, with eligibility for 15 CEUs (Continuing Education Units). Apply here for courses to be eligible toward the 300-Hour.
