with Jennifer Prugh and Karma Tensum
Nestled in the Himalayas on India’s Tibetan Plateau, Ladakh provides one of the last glimpses into traditional Tibetan culture in the world. In Tibetan language, “Ladakh” means “a land of high passes” and is often referred to as Little Tibet. Opening to tourism in 1974 and only open to visit from May through July each year, Tibetan Buddhist culture has been preserved largely because of its relative inaccessibility.
This journey is an opportunity to deepen your yoga and mindfulness practice, explore ancient monasteries, hike mountain trails, learn directly from Tibetan monks, make a difference to Ladakh’s children, and be culturally enriched and personally inspired for years to come.
The rugged and majestic mountains, emerald blue high-altitude lakes, sacred stupas, and the world’s highest drivable passes make it one of most sought after destinations among adventure enthusiasts.
We’ll remain open and flexible, taking into account travel times, and the needs of the group. Generally, this is what a day will look like:
Morning: Sitting meditation in the early morning, pre-breakfast – creating steadiness and ease in the early morning. Tantric Sadhana – Each morning and for those who wish, we will engage in a simple Vajrayana practice of the mantra om mani padme hum.
Daytime: Journeying – Many days we’ll take day trips to tour sacred locations, visit schools and monasteries, or experience the full spectrum of Ladakh’s natural world (see itinerary for details).
Evening: Asana and meditation whenever possible. The evening practice will reflect upon the day and prepare you for sleep.
