Peppermint hot chocolate

As the fall air carries us into the winter months, we may find ourselves craving something rich and decadent, yet fresh and crisp. The peppermint hot chocolate is a cozy, winter staple that provides the classic warmth of a hot chocolate along with a seasonal kick from the peppermint. Peppermint is known for alleviating stress and anxiety while boosting the immune system. During the busy holiday season, while you’re gifting for all your loved ones, treat yourself to our featured item of the month – available at Mandala Tea House the month of December only! 

If you can’t make it in, try making the drink yourself: 

Ingredients

Chocolate Sauce

  • ½ cup cacao powder
  • ½ cup coconut palm sugar
  • ½ cup water

Hot Chocolate

  • 8 oz milk of your choice
  • 2 oz chocolate sauce
  • ⅛ tsp peppermint extract

Directions

Chocolate Sauce

  1. Combine all ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend until incorporated, and store in a jar or squeeze bottle.

Hot Chocolate

  1. Combine all ingredients in a milk frothing pitcher.
  2. Steam until hot chocolate has reached desired temperature, and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an unsweetened version, add 2 tbsp cacao powder instead of chocolate sauce.
  • If you do not have a milk frother, combine all ingredients in a small saucepan, and heat gently on a stovetop.
  • Add a shot of espresso to turn your peppermint hot chocolate in a peppermint mocha!
