Cha Dao (茶道)—The Way of Tea—is a traditional tea ceremony shaped by Chinese culture and Chan Buddhist philosophy. Originating in monasteries where tea supported long hours of meditation, Cha Dao evolved as a form of moving meditation, revealing the dharma through ordinary, mindful actions.

Just as the tea is tended to with care and intention, this monthly ceremony is an opportunity to truly receive (unlike many practices that ask us to do or achieve). Each gesture of the ceremony—from warming the water to preparing and pouring the bowls to drinking together in meditative silence—invites the mind to settle, the senses to awaken, and to bring whatever you’re bringing to the tea table into balance.

You are invited to connect with yourself, your community, and nature in this invigorating mindfulness practice.

Ceremony includes:

  • 6 bowls of tea* served in traditional ceremony (meditative silence)
  • Space for reflection, journaling, and sharing

*Mandala Teahouse tea is carefully selected in alignment with the seasons and revealed after the ceremony. All tea served is a form of camellia sinensis and contains small amounts of caffeine (likened to the same amount of caffeine in a chocolate bar).
