Share the yoga practice with your young kids! Local school teacher and a graduate of our JOY 300 hour yoga teacher training program, Julie Kwok will offer two workshops designed for kids. These workshops take place on Sunday, March 8. *BREATHE, BEND, & BLAST-OFF: KIDS' YOGA (1:00pm-1:45pm)*
Kids ages 5 and up will have a session filled with movement, yoga-inspired adventures, mindfulness games, and calming techniques. *LAUGH, STRETCH & CONNECTION: MOM & ME YOGA (2-2:45pm)*

From Sunday, March 1 through Saturday, March 7, we're collecting lightly used clothing (including yoga wear!), medications, new personal hygiene items, and discarded personal electronics. These items will be taken to Cuba by Carmen Aguirre, a public defender, BTY member, and a student in our JOY 300 hour teacher training. People in Cuba have struggled with economic insecurity for decades. Scarcity issues have compounded under the worsening conditions: a devastating energy crisis, diminished tourism, spread of deadly mosquito-borne illnesses due to unsanitary conditions, a growing exodus of its most able-bodied, and recent blows to the international support it had been receiving. The pueblo is suffering greatly. Carmen has been studying dance and been a part of a yoga exchange in Cuba for 25+ years. She has formed deep friendships with Cuban artists and yoga practitioners and their families (and friends and neighbors). Each time she visits, she brings over 150 pounds of donated items which she distributes directly to individuals that do not have access to the tourist economy or other relief efforts. Carmen has a fiscal sponsorship with the non-profit CubaCaribe, a Bay area organization which preserves and shares the artistic and cultural traditions of the Carribean and its Diaspora. Donations to community classes at Breathe Together through Winter will support this group.
