Despite our constant state of stress in today’s modern world, our bodies strive to reside in a state of equilibrium. There is no “cure all” for this stress we encounter, but there is an herb that can help combat it: ashwagandha. Rooted in Ayurvedic tradition, ashwagandha root is an adaptogenic herb used to counteract the reactions of stress in the body by reducing cortisol levels. Help support your body this holiday season with our Autumn Elixir at Mandala Tea House, available for the month of November only. This soothing blend of ashwagandha, cinnamon, ghee, turmeric, vanilla extract, and black pepper, steamed together with your choice of milk and poured over a bit of maple syrup, is sure to calm your senses and satisfy your taste buds!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk of your choice (we prefer our house-made almond milk!)
  • ½ tsp ashwagandha
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ghee
  • ½ oz maple syrup
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of black pepper

Directions

  1. Combine all ingredients (except maple syrup) in a milk-frothing pitcher.
  2. Steam until elixir has reached desired temperature.
  3. Pour over maple syrup and enjoy!

Notes

  • For an unsweetened version, simply leave out the maple syrup.
  • If you do not have a milk frother, combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and gently heat on a stovetop.
