Trauma Informed Yoga Mentorship

Joanne offers students in the Trauma Informed Yoga Certification Program a mentorship opportunity. This consists of a combination of observation, assisting, and teaching. Upon completion, Mentees will learn teaching skills including:

  • how to read a room
  • appropriate language and postures to use and sequencing
  • how to interact with students one on one
  • managing class dynamics
  • working with individual student needs
  • self-care

This mentoring program is a 30 hour program.

The requirements are as follows:

Prerequisites:

  • Mentees must have completed either the JOY 200 hour Teacher Training or another Yoga Alliance certified 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training; with at least one year teaching experience or equivalent.
  • Mentees must be enrolled in the Trauma Informed Yoga Certification Program. They should also have completed all required coursework prior to beginning the Mentorship.

Additional requirements:

  • Attend 15 Neurogenic Tremoring classes over 6 months with Joanne
  • Commit to daily personal practice for 1 month, 10-15 minutes/day followed by journaling about the experience. You will meet with Joanne mid-month and again after completing the practice.
  • Assist Joanne in 3 Neurogenic Tremoring classes
  • Observe 3 Neurogenic Tremoring classes
  • Teach a class

Note: for assisting and teaching, the Mentees will need to furnish their insurance for teaching yoga to the Joy of Yoga Program Manager.

This mentorship course is a part of the Joy of Yoga Trauma Informed Yoga Certification with eligibility for 30 CEUs (Continuing Education Units). Registering for this course assumes agreement from the student to JOY of Yoga’s Code of Conduct.
