1,000-Hour JOY Leadership Program

Overview

In our JOY 200-Hour Training, students are provided core competencies to be safe and effective yoga instructors.

In our JOY 300-Hour Training, Joy students become effective, inspiring teachers through learning how to weave their unique understanding of the practice of yoga into dynamic and transformational classes and workshops, culminating in 500 hours of training.

The JOY 1,000-Hour Leadership Training is for those 500-hour certified who want to work with Jennifer and a select group of colleagues in a concentrated way to 1) build their own curriculum, 2) refine a specific career path, 3) meaningfully contribute to underserved populations, and/or 4) craft their professional future.

The landscape of yoga and mind-body practices continues to evolve as the world faces a plethora of challenges. There is the need for courses, programs, and trainings that integrate a variety of mind-body, evidence-based practices into peoples’ daily lives so that we can all contribute to creating a culture of well-being. You have something important to offer.

Congratulations on completing 500 hours of yoga teacher training! Thank you for your interest in the 1,000-Hour JOY Leadership Program.

You may have noticed that life is asking us to bring more of our true selves to the party right now. Many of us have an idea to create something beautiful, something impactful, something that can make lives better for people, but we may need support with curriculum development – and courage. This program is intended to do just that.

You can make a substantial difference with the work you create, and I want to help you develop a niche that you are passionate about. A requirement in the 1,000-hour program is the 1,000-hour mentorship program. In this 45-hour course, we will work together closely, and we’ll create a path that is totally made for you.

I’ve been developing curriculum since 1985. I was the Assessment Coordinator (curriculum development) for three years during my other career as an Associate Professor. I began running the JOY program in 2007 and have run 200 and 300 trainings since 2011. Taking people from all walks of life from one state of being to another, whether it’s workshops, trainings, immersions, or retreats, is something I’ve dedicated much of my life to.

Many of you know I was greatly fortunate to have a dad as a mentor. He said “be who you are intended to be.” And that’s the spirit behind my interest in developing your capacities. Being who we are is what we’re here to do. It’s how we can make the most difference. Knowing that we have each other as we grow has always worked for me. And why “together” is in our name.

There are details that aren’t present here, but I’ll fill you in with all the particulars after you express interest. I’m really excited about getting to work in this way. I want to see what we can make.

Whatever you happen to be doing in life right now, let’s dedicate ourselves to the kind of growth that makes the world around us a little easier, a little more peaceful, creative and loving.

Yours,
Jennifer

Breathe Together Yoga and the Joy of Yoga School of Integrative Learning is known for its commitment to a variety of expressions of yoga and mind-body practices.

We recognize that yoga is not mat-centered, but exists at the center of every aspect of our lives. We are motivated to support students in living life as a practice, in exploring your potential to make a difference in our world, and in having the refuge of daily practice in which to return.

The JOY 1000-hour program supports you to create programs, trainings, and course content that utilizes the vast landscape of mind-body practices to benefit others in your unique way. While this might mean being a full-time yoga teacher, it can also mean integrating your understanding of the practice into an already existing career.

“Engaged practice” in the context of yoga, is the intention to skillfully apply the values and teachings of yoga to the world’s contemporary challenges, motivated by concern for others’ welfare, and as an expression of one’s own practice. The JOY 1000-hour program focuses on how to make a meaningful contribution as an educator and a leader, whatever our individual circumstances may be and wherever our interests may lie.
