Heart-Mind Practices

Hand of the golden Buddha 02

Evidence-based research indicates that compassion practices support a greater sense of well-being, nourish personal relationships, and improve our health.

The Brahmaviharas, or Four Immeasurables, are found in both classical yoga and Buddhist teachings. We will study and practice the cultivation of four states: loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity.

We will cover the history and psychology of meditation, mindfulness, science of flow, EEG | MRI studies, long-term trait changes, neurofeedback, science of breath, and “heart-based” awareness practices from a wide variety of contemplative traditions.

Students will gain a stronger connection to heart-mind practices and new skills to relate to one’s self and others. Teachers of yoga and/or meditation will come away with an array of practices to support their students.

We advise that having a regular physical practice will support integrating and embodying this work. You do not need to have taken a yoga teacher training to participate in this intensive.

This course is eligible for 15 elective hours toward the JOY of Yoga 300 Hour Teacher Training. This course is also eligible for 15 CEUs (continuing education units); hours will be broken down on the certificate of completion, available after the last day of training – please contact Aurelia.
