Sarah Khayat

As you would expect, Sarah loves yoga. Dabbling her toes in the vast stream of yoga has been more or less a lifelong pursuit. More recently, with her youngest heading off to college, she found time to fully give herself over to the practice. With YTT 200 and aerial certification under her belt, she has been finding joy and fulfillment in teaching, studying, and practicing. The rewards of yoga are limitless, and approaching it as a student and a teacher has been profoundly moving and deeply joyful.

Upcoming Classes

Sarah’s classes focus on empowering the individual, nurturing the development of self-knowledge through a constant return to the sensations of the body and the breath, through gentle acceptance of whatever we bring to our mat on any given day. Modalities that Sarah teaches include Gentle Yoga, Yin/Restorative Yoga, Slow Flow, Aerial Yoga, and Aerial Yin. She is particularly enamored with aerial yoga, which offers a unique perspective on yoga asana as the hammock gifts us with both instability (uncovering weaknesses we may not have known existed) and weightlessness, the ability to do almost effortless inversions.

Through her yoga teaching, Sarah supports Oakland’s Intertribal Friendship House, an organization which supports Native Americans in the urban environment, and Razia’s Rays of Hope, which supports the education of Afghan girls.
