Everything in the practice grows from the ground up. Before we chase the next posture, we come back to the feet, the legs, and the quiet strength of the standing sequence. This session studies how to root through the base of each pose so the spine can lengthen and the breath can move freely. We work with the downward flow of apana and the steadying quality of the earth element, the grounding that makes real lightness possible. Good for beginners finding their base, and for seasoned practitioners who want to reconnect to the foundational principles that make any posture easily accessible from the bottom up.

Saturday, March 20 @ 1:30pm-4:00pm
Pranayama is the expansion of the vital life energy within. Reaching into this fourth limb deepens concentration and steadies the mind, and it is far more accessible than most people expect. Drawing on the Hatha Pradipika, we learn about the kriyas, the cleansing practices that prepare the body for subtle work, and a few foundational breathing techniques you can begin at home. This is a calm, grounded session that sends you off with a practice you can actually keep. No experience needed.

Sunday, March 21 @ 1:30pm-4:00pm
This is the deepest energetic work. An advanced breathwork and Spinal Energetics session that opens the energetic field. Using active breathing, sound, and light-touch shamanic energy work, we move past the thinking mind into an expanded state where real change becomes possible. As the breath builds, the body starts to release what it has been holding, old tension, old stories, the patterns that quietly keep you small. Whatever surfaces is met with care and integrated within a shared group experience. You’ll leave lighter, clearer, and with a felt sense of what is actually possible for your life and your practice. No experience needed, only a willingness to open up to new possibilities, breathe, and let go.

With more than 25 years of Ashtanga Yoga practice, Harmony Slater brings a wealth of lived experience to her teaching. Authorized by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in 2005 and Certified in the Advanced Series by R. Sharath Jois in 2015, she is one of fewer than twenty women in the world to hold this honor. Over the years her approach has evolved beyond conventional paradigms, unlearning and deconstructing much of what she once believed fundamental, to bring out what, at heart, is essential.
Harmony has woven together Buddhist meditation, Spinal Energetics, spiritual coaching, and Eastern mysticism with the well-established roots of asana and pranayama. What she shares with students belongs to no single system. Her workshops and retreats present yoga as the art of living and the science of experience. As a Certified Spinal Energetics Practitioner, she also holds space for deep nervous-system healing and release, and her Somatic Yoga method carries this energy work into a moving, breathing practice.
Her teaching rests on one recognition: “That which you are looking for is the one who is looking.” She guides students back to their own creativity, wholeness, and intuition, and through six levels of awareness, mental, emotional, somatic, unconscious, energetic, and behavioral, so that practice becomes a living tool for healing and personal evolution.
Harmony has taught in more than thirty countries. She founded her first yoga school in Canada in 2009, hosts the Finding Harmony Podcast, and has been featured in the anthologies Yoga Sadhana for Mothers and Strength and Grace: Essays by Women of Ashtanga Yoga. She teaches and lives in Calgary, where she is raising her son, the practice she calls her “seventh series.”
These workshops will be conducted in-studio.
