When we integrate the three subtle energetic locks into our practice, we notice big changes in our ability to focus and draw the mind inward. Bandhas connect to the movement of our Inner Energy and the expansion of this vital life force within ourselves. We will discuss the more esoteric aspects of the practice, and explore easily accessible ways to begin a practice of breath-control using bandhas.

Saturday, February 15
9:00am-11:30amJoin this guided class with Harmony where we will move through the sequence of a traditional Primary Series class with focused attention on learning to cultivate Mula Bandha and Uddiyana Bandha. This movement of subtle energy is an important key to the asana practice. Bandhas can be used to create a greater sense of lightness, balance, and ease of movement.
This will be followed by a talk about how to begin moving the mind inward and drawing it towards the more subtle aspects of practice and a guided practice of Spinal Breathing and meditation. Learn how to take your experience of yoga beyond asana practice and into the other more esoteric limbs of yoga.

In recent years, alongside her dedicated Ashtanga yoga practice and teaching, Harmony’s embarked on a transformative journey, weaving together her practice of Buddhist Meditation, Spinal Energetics, Spiritual Coaching and Eastern Mysticism into the already well-established roots of Asana and Pranayama. What she shares with students doesn’t belong to any one system. Her retreats and workshops highlight yoga as the art of living and science of experience.
Harmony’s teaching philosophy centers on the fundamental recognition: “That which you are looking for is the one who is looking.” She guides students to recognize their inherent creativity and wholeness, empowering them to tap into their personal power and intuition.
Her approach is shaped by rich life experiences, including:
- Five years of immersive study in China, India, and Thailand
- Deep dive into Sanskrit chanting and Eastern philosophical traditions
- Founding her own yoga school in Canada in 2009
- Integrating spiritual practice into daily life as a mother
Harmony offers a holistic experience, focusing on cultivating six levels of awareness: Mental, Emotional, Somatic, Unconscious, Energetic, and Behavioral to wake up to your inherent worthiness and transform your spiritual practice into a powerful tool for healing and personal evolution. Michigan born retired Yoga teacher and Painter, Russell Altice Case earned his MFA in 2003 studying under fellow Detroit Sven Lennart Anderson at Brooklyn College. After graduation, he spent 10 years overseas studying and teaching Ashtanga Yoga in Taiwan, Brighton U.K., and Mysore India.
This followed a year teaching English in Andong, South Korea, and passing the Foreign Service Exam. He was the first from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago student population to ever do so. He gained his BFA and also a Post baccalaureate in 2000 from that proud institution, following his graduation from the New Orleans Center of Creative Arts in 1993.
In 2010 Case returned to the US and founded the very first Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga room at Twitter headquarters in San Francisco and subsequently the Jois Foundation for children and the Stanford University Mysore Program where he was director for 10 years.
Currently he paints and lives in Calgary, Alberta Canada with his beloved wife Harmony, their shared child Jediah Om, and two golden doodles Artemis and Apollo.
Russell’s maternal and paternal family both fled the Storsvagåret Famine of 1867. He longs to return to the Lund family headstone in Algutstorp. Västra Göteland. His Lund family continues to hold family reunions in Chicago every year.
