This Gentle Yoga/TRE workshop combines the ancient practice of yoga with the modern discovery of the Trauma/Tension Release exercises developed by Dr. Berceli!
We will navigate through movement, pranayama, sound, and the TREs which are a gentle technique that promotes neurogenic tremors in the body by using simple exercises to release stress or tension that accumulate from every day experiences of life, difficult situations, immediate or prolonged stressful situations, or traumatic life experiences as well as injuries to the body. The “shaking” originates deep in the core of body within the psoas muscles initiating tremors that start in the legs and often move throughout the body. The technique can help to restore balance in tense muscles, alleviate pain, and calm and regulate our already over active nervous system.
Although this is a fairly new modality, many yoga teachers, psychologists, and healers have used tremoring to release tension, move energy, and release energetic blocks including Peter Levine, Tias Little, and Anodea Judith.
The workshop will begin with an hour of gentle yoga followed by the TRE exercises. We will finish the class in a long savasana with the gentle sounds of healing bowls and essential oil. There will be ample time for questions and discussion.
